hina has always strengthened its supervision and control on product quality. Besides “the Chinese Product Quality Law”, the State Administration of Industry and Commerce has promulgated “the Methods on Supervision and Control of the Product Quality in Circulation” last year, which is also applied to the imported products and specified the label requirements of foreign products in its Art. 9:
- The name of product, the place of origin, the name and address of the importer or distributor shall be stated in Chinese;
- If the products may affect human health, the safety of person and /or their property or there are special requirements for use and maintenance of the products, the Chinese instructions must be accompanied;
- If the products are supposed to be used within a certain time limit, the expiry date must be specified in Chinese,
- If the products are assembled with imported parts or get separately packed from the whole imported portion, this must be declared in Chinese.
Such requirements are intended to avoid the presence of imported products in the Chinese market without prior inspection of relevant government authorities, such as custom, quality supervision office or the local administration of industry and commerce.
